The International Herald Tribune (IHT) has struck a partnership
deal with Spanish national newspaper El Pais to produce an
English-language insert.
Every copy of the IHT sold in Spain will now contain an eight-page
insert containing editorial content from El Pais and original articles
aimed at English-speakers in Spain.
The partnership offers advertisers an easy way to upweight in Spain -
either for a pan-European campaign that has particular relevance in the
country or for Spain-only ad bursts.
Didier Brun, vice-president and director of development and new media at
the IHT, said: "The IHT/El Pais English edition will increase our
penetration of this market and create major opportunities for
clients."
This is the IHT's eighth such publishing partnership - the paper
produces English-language versions in Germany, Italy, Japan, Israel,
Greece, Korea and Lebanon.
