The Independent has made a raft of appointments in a reorganisation
of its sales operation.
Reflecting the growth in business generated from the newspaper’s
magazines and supplements, a second magazine agency sales team has been
The new team will be led by Mark Becarevic, who has been promoted from
display group head on magazines to deputy advertisement manager. Further
appointments will be made soon.
The other team will be led by Andrea McCullough, who has been promoted
from display sales executive on newspapers to magazine group head. She
is currently on maternity leave.
The paper is looking to fill the new position of financial advertisement
manager, who will head a team of three.
On the newspaper teams, Emma Glaister is promoted from display sales
executive to group head, replacing Mel Owen-Browne, who left the paper
to go travelling.
Glaister is replaced by Laura Thompson, who is promoted from classified

Company, his role heading fashion and international has been split into
Evangelia Dimitriou joins from IPC to become fashion account
She was formerly a fashion executive on Later and Loaded.
Lucie Winter joins as international sales manager from Business
Traveller, where she was project manager.
Dimitriou and Winter will join the client sales team, headed by Keith
Commercial director Stephen Miron said: ’We will continue to expand the
department on the back of a record growth in revenue.’
In November, The Independent will move out of the office it shares with
The Mirror into its own building in South Quay, Docklands.
The ad sales department will get a new bespoke computer tool called
Media System. The department shares The Mirror’s system, which was
designed for tabloid newspapers.
