Independent Digital severs links with Mirror New Media

Independent Digital has sacked the new-media sales force of its parent, Trinity Mirror, and appointed DoubleClick to sell banner ads on its re-launched online brands.

Independent Digital has sacked the new-media sales force of its

parent, Trinity Mirror, and appointed DoubleClick to sell banner ads on

its re-launched online brands.



Sponsorship and e-commerce is to be marketed by an in-house team headed

by Richard Lee who reports to commercial and marketing director, Paul

Simon.



The Independent’s website had previously been managed and sold by Mirror

New Media. ’The content was merely an electronic version of the papers.

It wasn’t an ideal product,’ admitted Simon.



Lee, ex-director of Acumen Web, is charged with delivering integrated

deals across print and online and building e-commerce links with

retailers.



He is recruiting two sales executives who can sell at a senior

agency/client level.
