The Independent’s international ad manager, Jamie Wilson, has taken
on the role of head of fashion and beauty advertising, following his
success in securing a lucrative deal with Armani.
Wilson’s promotion brings overseas sales and fashion sales under one
department head. They were previously sold separately but, according to
Wilson, there is a high degree of crossover.
’More than 70 per cent of international clients advertising in The
Independent come from the fashion sector, so it makes sense to combine
the roles,’ Wilson said. ’It will also allow us to offer tailor-made
solutions, so that we could tie in a promotion by a British retailer
such as Harvey Nichols with a campaign from Kenzo, for example. We want

The appointment recognises Wilson’s recent success in securing the
Armani deal, which will result in the Italian fashion house advertising
on the front and back covers of The Independent on Sunday’s Real Life
section for six consecutive weeks, starting on 19 September.
