The Ingenious Events Company has announced it will hold its new spirit festival the Whisky Sessions at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on 21 and 22 November.

The events company, which is part of the IWSC Group, said the festival will give precedent to whisky sampling and live music in equal measure. The Whisky Sessions will also feature in pop-up form at the Foodies Festival in Clapham, London, and at the Isle of Wight festival this summer.

Manchester-based mixologists at the Whiskey Jar have been bought on board to create unique cocktails at the festival. Confirmed artistes include rock band I Am Kloot, cult indie act British Sea Power and alternative rockers Gomez.

The Victoria Warehouse Hotel, which occupies the same site as the Victoria Warehouse, will host tasting sessions and other smaller festival events, while bands take to the two stages in the main venue.

Faye Millar, sales and marketing manager at Victoria Warehouse, told Event: "I think it’s the sheer size of the venue that has attracted bookings like this. A lot of my clients say you just can’t get that space in London."

Festival event manager Antony Warren hinted at the Whisky Session’s press launch that the festival could head to the capital in Spring 2015.

Allen Gibbons, chief executive of the IWSC Group, added: "We’re delighted to be revealing the Whisky Sessions, which we feel is a unique music experience with a whisky twist.

"Whisky has been the source of inspiration for countless numbers of musicians over the years, and as the world is currently exploding with great new whiskies emanating from both traditional and new countries, we thought it was a great time to get the two together."
