Initiative Media has scooped the pan-European and Middle East media

planning and buying account for Calvin Klein Inc, the fashion and

eye-wear company which is part of the Calvin Klein empire.

The business, which is worth about dollars 30 million around Europe, was

previously handled by Zenith Media. Zenith picked up the account almost

two years ago when the client decided to centralise the business into a

single media agency network.

Initiative already handles the media planning and buying around Europe

for the separately owned Calvin Klein Cosmetics, having scooped the

centralised account at the end of last year in a two-way shootout

against CIA Medianetwork.

The cosmetics division is owned and marketed by Unilever, another

Initiative client, while the fashion operation is owned by Calvin Klein

Inc, a US-based company. However, Calvin Klein Inc is understood to be

interested in exploiting synergies between the two operations across

Europe.

The fashion brands include ck Calvin Klein, the Calvin Klein Collection

and ck Calvin Klein Jeans.
