INTERACTIVE: Barbie Storymaker CD-Rom

The last time I interacted with Barbie was on FHM’s Website in ’position of the week’. Thus I should not really be reviewing this. But I am.

The last time I interacted with Barbie was on FHM’s Website in

’position of the week’. Thus I should not really be reviewing this. But

I am.

Choosing backgrounds, characters, props, music and so on in Barbie’s

Storymaker, you act as the director of your own pink and fluffy

movie.

You tell Barbie where to walk; you make Ken appear; Barbie and Ken

kiss.

The cat breaks it up.

It’s a sickly sweet, perfect, white-American dreamworld. But I was

engrossed for hours. Intuitive commands, instant help and endless

options meant my Barbie soap was never the same. Everyone has these

dreams and makes up these stories as a kid. And whatever the CD-Rom

retails at, it’s a damn sight cheaper than buying all the real clothes

and accessories. My parents would have had an easier time if this was

available for Star Wars in 1977. ’Mum, can I have the Millennium

Falcon?’
