What could an already excellent site possibly do to improve its
offering? Not a lot judging by this relaunched site - in fact, it does
just the opposite.
The graphic/animation-heavy home page took an eternity to download and,
once it had finished, I couldn’t actually read the text within the
navigation buttons. Now, remember this is with a swanky laptop and fast
connection, so what Joe Public will make of this on his dial-up account
is anyone’s guess. As a business user, what I want is fast, easy access
to current Eurostar travel information. I’d also like to be able to
check my Frequent Traveller points, my reservation details, and, yes,
book tickets online.
What I get is confusing navigation and a lot of slow-to-load sales
banter.
If I want to book tickets I have to pick up the phone - so why wouldn’t
I just do that in the first place ? Reluctantly, I have to say that I
preferred the old site for its no-nonsense provision of useful
information.
