INTERACTIVE: Eyesite

Eyesite is a specialist site aiming to put art directors in touch with illustrators and photographers who, in turn, are given a space to showcase their work. Artists are charged for the privilege of displaying their work, with the site claiming to be viewed by more than 8,000 art directors in the UK. It is terrible. An incredibly irritating flapping butterfly GIF adorns every page and an almost fluorescent yellow background is used throughout, which gives you a throbbing headache and overpowers the images. The navigation is almost non-existent. Two feature pages are offered: an ’exclusive interview’ with Frank Frazetta (one page of badly formatted text with no images of his work) and a featured ’artist of the month’ (two images with no explanatory text other than the artist’s name and contact details). Avoid at all costs.
