APL Budapest did some exhaustive research into the target teen market
for Nestle’s unorthodox-looking chocolate bar, Chokito. Finally, it came
up with the concept of things not always being quite what they seem and
the strapline: ‘Chokito - it’s ugly and tasty.’ Then the agency had a
lot of fun translating the unexpected into film. In one commercial, a
hunky athlete is seen marching confidently into a swimming pool changing
room, only to swagger out again a few moments later, wearing a pair of
bright-blue water wings. In another, a sweet old lady is seen
brightening up at the approach of a passer by under her window. But
later, we see that her delight stems only from the fact she can pour a
bucket of water over his head as he walks under her window box.
