Internet World, a magazine for ’internet decision makers’ is to hit
the UK market this December.
London-based publisher Hillgate Communications will produce the monthly
business title - plus an online version - under license from the US
media company Penton Media.
Jason Brown has joined Hillgate from the contract publisher Premier
Magazines as advertisement manager for Internet World.
The title’s publisher will be Michael Gibson, who was recruited from
Euromoney Institutional Investor. Ex-PC Week editor Fiona Harvey will be
the editor of the magazine, which will focus on both UK and
international developments in e-commerce.
Internet World, which is already published in 24 countries worldwide,
will not be available on newsstands but have a controlled circulation of
around 25,000.
It will be sent to a range of internet industry operators ’looking to
realise the full benefits of an e-business strategy,’ including internet
companies, IT consultants channel distributors, telecommunications
companies and software and hardware vendors.
Penton Media already organises a UK trade internet event entitled
Internet World UK, which is held at Olympia in London. It is also
helping Hillgate set up the website.
’The UK is an exciting market,’ said Penton Media’s publishing director
of Internet World, Tom Kuczynski. ’The internet is now regarded as a
fundamental part of a company’s business strategy so it’s the ideal time
to extend Internet World into the UK.’
Hillgate managing director Simon Moss commented: ’The net in the UK is
poised for phenomenal growth. For UK companies and the internet
community to prosper they must keep ahead of this rapidly evolving
market.’
Internet World will compete against Haymarket Publishing’s recently
acquired and re-designed Internet Business as well as more general PC
titles like Ziff-Davis’ PC Week, which have increased their coverage of
e-commerce.
Hillgate also publishes IT Consultant, Finance Midlands, Finance North
and a range of contract titles.
