Interpublic broadens contract portfolio with TPD acquisition

Treasure: embracing new family

Interpublic Group's McCann Erickson Worldwide has acquired contract publisher TPD and its US operation Fluent Communications in an attempt to expand its worldwide branded content and custom publishing operations.

TPD, which has subsequently changed its name to Just Customer Communication, will operate as an independently branded unit of The Publishing Agency International, McCann-Erickson Worldwide's custom publishing and branded content network.

London-based TPD's US sister company, Fluent, will operate in the same way.

Formed in 1998, TPD's contract clients include ONdigital, RAC, Microsoft, Alliance & Leicester and Goldfish Guides.

TPD chairman Julian Treasure said: "Branded content is becoming more sophisticated and powerful every day, and the vast network of different skills, experience and tools now available to us from our new family will give our clients major business advantages."

TPAI now has full-service publishing units in London, Seattle, New York, Amsterdam and Madrid, with more than 300 employees serving more than 100 clients. Projected capitalised billings for 2001 are in excess of $120m (£85m).

TPAI managing director Kirk Cheyfitz said: "London is the world capital for custom publishing and TPD has always been our first choice here because of its innovative vision, its lead in interactive customer communication and its award-winning magazine work. TPD is a very important addition to our network."
