IPC hires Perkin as digital ad chief

IPC Electric ad manager Neil Perkin is to head ad sales across all digital platforms in a new role as IPC Media digital ad director.

IPC Electric ad manager Neil Perkin is to head ad sales across all

digital platforms in a new role as IPC Media digital ad director.



He will be responsible for generating advertising and sponsorship

revenue from IPC’s websites - BeMe, UnmissableTV, UpLoaded and NME.com -

as well as IPC’s entry into WAP technology and interactive digital

television and radio.



In his new role, Perkin reports to IPC Advertising managing director

Georgina Crace. However, he will have a dotted-line reporting link to

IPC Electric operations director Kevin Kerrigan.



Perkin will manage a sales team of 16 staff, half of which have yet to

be recruited.



They will work closely with IPC Electric’s business development team -

headed by Rebecca Miskin - which is responsible for e-commerce and

content provision deals.



Perkin joined IPC five years ago as a senior sales executive in the home

interest group. He was promoted to advertisement manager on Homes &

Gardens and Living etc, before moving to IPC Electric.



Commenting on the appointment, Crace said: ’We are facing an enormous

number of challenges - to embed our new-media operation, realise the

potential of new advertising formats and maximise our multimedia

offering. Neil has proved he is the best candidate to face these

challenges.’



IPC Media claims UnmissableTV, which launched in December, attracted

112,000 visitors in May. The site is now available via WAP mobile

phones.



It has also been announced that NME.com has struck a deal to provide Yes

TV with five concerts from its NME Premier Shows series.



The concerts - featuring Elastica, Embrace, Shack, Muse and Ash - will

have interactive elements.
