ITV boosts AFP team with two appointments

ITV has hired two creative agency account directors as part of a plan to create a closer relationship with the advertising industry and to undertake more ad-funded programming initiatives.

The network has appointed Nick Smith, the global business director at Ogilvy, and Samantha Wilson, who ran the Levi's account at Bartle Bogle Hegarty in New York, to the newly created positions of client services directors.

Smith and Wilson will report to Nicky Buss, the advertiser development director at ITV. They will be responsible for developing ITV's branded content and AFP capabilities.

While he was at Ogilvy, Smith worked on the SAB Miller, GSK, Kraft and American Express accounts. His previous jobs also include roles at BBH in London and Warner Film.

Buss said: "I am excited to announce these new additions They represent some of the best agency talent, with all-round client service, strategic and creative skills. They will significantly accelerate our ability to develop our branded content offering."

Buss said that she fully expects these new appointments to generate "lots of interest" from the advertising agency community.

Buss was hired for the newly created position of advertiser development director in May. Her appointment was part of ITV's ongoing efforts to develop stronger links with the advertising community.

The network is attempting to offset a sharp decline in advertising revenues on its flagship channel, ITV1, by using branded-content programming. Buss previously held the post of client services director at WPP Group's Research International.
