ITV looks for partners for Emmerdale community site

LONDON - ITV is looking to tie up commercial partners for an community-based 'Emmerdale' website, which is set to go live in December and will ask people to help solve a murder in the soap.

The commercial broadcaster is in talks with a number of potential partners to work with on the site for its Yorkshire-based soap, but none have been confirmed yet.

The 'Emmerdale' website goes live on December 25. The dedicated site has been created and designed by Hoodlum.

The fully interactive site will encourage users to particpate in a storyline based around the murder of one of the soap's character's, Tom King.

ITV is attempting to create an online community, who will help solve the murder through character blogs, clues, secret emails and voicemails. The site will also feature clips from the show.

Users will be encouraged to share their conspiracy theories in an online forum as the clues build up and the website gains momentum in the weeks following the murder episode on Christmas Day.

ITV is expanding its online presence in a bid to carve out new opportunities for advertisers as it attempts to offset a sharp decline in advertising revenues on its flagship channel, ITV1.
