Jamie's Ministry of Food launches with 3m viewers

LONDON - Channel 4's new cookery series 'Jamie's Ministry of Food' opened with a solid 3m viewers last night, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The first episode of the series, in which the celebrity chef visited Rotherham to show working class mothers how he thinks they should cook, captured a 13.3% share of the audience between 9-10pm. Including the ratings on Channel 4+1, it had 3.3m viewers.

BBC One's comedy drama series 'Mutual Friends', starring Keeley Hawes, was the most watched show in the 9-10pm slot with 5m viewers and a 15.3% share of the audience.

ITV1's live coverage of Arsenal's UEFA Champions League clash against Porto netted 3.4m viewers and a 15% share between 7.30-10pm.

Channel Five's US import 'CSI: Miami' pulled in a solid 2.4m viewers and a 10.5% share of the audience between 9-10pm.

'Losing It: Griff Rhys Jones On Anger' brought BBC Two 1.1m viewers and a 4.7% share of the audience in the same slot.

Earlier in the evening, Channel 4's new documentary series 'The Sex Education Show' drew 1.8m viewers and a 7.8% share between 8-9pm. Including ratings from Channel 4+1, it had 2m viewers.
