The outdoor group JC Decaux has poached Jeremy Male, the chief

executive of TDI Europe, to head its UK operations and become the chief

operating officer for 14 countries in Scandinavia, Central and Eastern

Europe as it seeks to consolidate its presence in Europe.

Male will take over operational responsibilities from Jean-Francois

Decaux, who is stepping aside to concentrate on the group’s strategic

and international development - a move that could see an aggressive

acquisition strategy across key European countries. The company earlier

this year announced that it intended to float on the Paris stock

exchange.

Commenting on the decision to fill a top management position with

someone from outside the Decaux family, Jean-Francois Decaux, the joint

chief executive of JCDecaux, said: ’We are trying to establish the dream

team of outdoor by combining the best knowledge of outdoor with the best

management. We have made it clear that the family is willing to take top

management on to the board.’

Decaux, who will continue to be based in London, said: ’We will be

looking at making some growth in the UK, whether it’s organically or by

acquisition. I think there is room for consolidation in the UK market.’
