For Tesco stalwart and Power 100 newcomer Easterbrook, the supermarket’s abandonment of its chief marketing officer role was great news. Now, in effect, chief marketer in all but name, Easterbrook is driving the troubled supermarket’s plans to put customers back at the heart of the business. She has so far survived a tumultuous few months – a new chief executive, further marketing restructures and an accounting scandal – but her future will very much depend on the supermarket’s performance in a tough marketplace. Retail is the lifeblood of this self-confessed shopaholic – just look at her Twitter feed for proof. She has served 13 years at Tesco in a variety of strategic roles. Her passions are "great products, great people and smart innovation" – things that Tesco needs in abundance if it is to regain its footing.
