John Barnes raps for Mars in World Cup ad

LONDON - Mars will air its 2010 version of John Barnes' 1990 footballing rap on Monday (24 May) as it looks to tap into consumer excitement about the forthcoming World Cup.

The TV spot, created by AMV BBDO, reprises Barnes' section of the World Cup song 'World in Motion', penned by New Order, for England's outing in Italia 90.

The lyrics have been changed slightly so that he raps 'Three lions on my Mars, I know we can't go wrong', instead of 'Three lions on my chest, I know we can't go wrong.'

The ad is part of a wider Mars campaign around the World Cup, which begins in South Africa in June.
