Jowett takes VW role at MediaCom

MediaCom TMB has appointed David Jowett deputy broadcast director and has hired three TV buyers in a drive to strengthen its television department.

and has hired three TV buyers in a drive to strengthen its television

department.



Jowett left MediaVest two weeks ago to join the agency and will take

full responsibility for the Volkswagen Group business, which includes

the VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda car brands.



He started out as a television buyer for Zenith, later switching to BMP

to handle the Scottish Courage account. He moved across on the same

account to MediaVest where he became TV buying director on Walkers and

Associated Newspapers.



Jowett, who reports to broadcast director Mark Collins, is the fourth TV

buyer to join the company in the past few weeks.



Alex Debenham-Burton joined as a TV buyer on Direct Line and Nokia.

Anthony Greenidge, who moved from MindShare, will work on SmithKline

Beecham, and Amber Cutayer joined from Rapture Television to handle Ikea

and Iceland.



However, Jowett said the lack of car programmes scheduled for February

and March has meant the prospects for car advertising do not look

promising.



’ITV and the other stations have not lined up many car shows aimed at

ABC1s. This makes it harder to place our clients’ advertising,’ he

said.



Jowett is already in talks with the terrestrial stations as well as

Flextech, Sky and Granda Media Sales.
