JWT expected to appoint GM’s O’Malley to Ford account

Michael O’Malley has stepped down from his post as general manager of General Motors’ Cadillac division and is believed to be the leading candidate for heading up J Walter Thompson’s Ford account in the US.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Michael O’Malley has stepped down from his post as general manager of General Motors’ Cadillac division and is believed to be the leading candidate for heading up J Walter Thompson’s Ford account in the US.

Although the New York office of JWT has refused to confirm reports of a signed contract, the company is known to have been in talks with O’Malley after Peter Schweitzer, who formerly headed up the Ford account, was promoted to chief executive officer in January.

The Ford business accounts for 15%-20% of JWT’s $1bn (£692.33m) annual revenue and it is believed Schweitzer has been looking closely at both internal and external candidates during the past year.
