JWT hires Alexander to work on Vodafone

J. Walter Thompson has persuaded Rob Alexander, the TBWA\London deputy planning director, to join the agency to spearhead global creative and strategic planning on its Vodafone account.

Alexander starts his new role in early November. He will work with Craig Davis, JWT's chief creative officer, EMEA, reporting to Marco Rimini, JWT's director of strategy. Alexander's appointment comes as Vodafone prepares to use JWT work to launch 3G Live!

Alexander began his career in marketing roles for theatrical organisations before he joined BMP Countrywide in 1995. He moved to Bainsfair Sharkey Trott the following year and became part of TBWA after the agency's two mergers in 1997 and 1998.

At TBWA, he worked as the deputy planning director and the global planning director on Masterfoods. He has spent the past 18 months with specific responsibility for the Mars account.

Alexander said: "Vodafone is the world's leading telecoms brand. The opportunity to help shape it and produce great work that makes a great difference is hugely exciting."

Rimini added: "Rob is a top creative and strategic talent. He is one of the industry's most experienced and inspired planners."
