Katz International, the media sales house, has sub-contracted its
TV airtime sales business to the ITV sales operation, Laser, as it
prepares to concentrate on radio and international media business.
Laser’s satellite and cable division, headed by Andy Hawkins, will take
on national advertising and sponsorship sales for Channel One, the
Performance Channel, Asianet and the national sales contract for the
UK’s largest cable operator, Cable & Wireless Communications. The
channels will sit alongside Laser’s existing cable and satellite client,
Granada Sky Broadcasting.
Katz will retain a role in the channels’ airtime sales by overseeing the
business on behalf of the channel owners.
Simon Lynds, the chief executive of Katz, said: ’The marketplace holds a
lot of opportunities for exploiting the experience we’ve gained in cable
and our expertise in airtime sales will complement Laser’s service.’
