Ken New, the chairman of New PHD and the poster company, Outdoor
Connection, is taking over as the head of the outdoor industry’s
research organisation, Postar.
As non-executive chairman of Postar, he replaces Chris Dickens who
resigned from the post earlier this year to pursue other media
New was selected for the role by the Council of Outdoor Specialists and
the Outdoor Advertising Association, the joint-funders of the research
operation. His appointment is effective immediately and is for a minimum
of two years.
Alan Simmons, chairman of the poster specialist, Concord, and a member
of COS played down any conflict of interest. He said: ’Ken has been
chosen for his integrity, he’s hardly going to be standing up in
meetings and banging the drum for Outdoor Connection.’ Matthew
Carrington, the chairman of the OAA, added: ’His reputation and
well-known commitment to the medium can only benefit Postar.’
Postar has already established itself as a benchmark for outdoor
advertising research around the world, but is still a work in progress.
New admitted: ’There is work to be done in developing it further and, at
the same time, in promoting its use across all arms of the
Postar is also close to announcing the appointment of a full-time
managing director, though the chosen candidate is unlikely to come from
within the poster industry itself.
