Kitching decides to leave Trinity Mirror with no job to go to

Andrew Kitching, the managing director of marketing at Trinity Mirror, has left the company abruptly.

Andrew Kitching, the managing director of marketing at Trinity

Mirror, has left the company abruptly.

Kitching is not thought to have a job lined up and Trinity Mirror has

not yet appointed a successor. A spokesman for Trinity Mirror said: ’I

can confirm that Andrew Kitching has resigned to pursue other

interests.’

Industry sources suggest Margaret Harvey, the marketing director of

Trinity Mirror’s national titles, is a strong candidate for the

post.

Mirror Group Newspapers poached Kitching from the New York Daily News in

August 1996.

Shortly after he joined, The Mirror began a pounds 16 million

rejuvenation programme designed to increase its market share and attract

a younger readership.

His departure comes shortly after the merger of the largest regional

newspaper group, Trinity Newspapers, with the Mirror Group.

Before joining The Mirror Kitching spent two years as vice-president of

marketing at the New York Daily News.
