Ford has invited MindShare to bid for the global Land Rover

contract, the only piece of group business missing from the agency’s

portfolio.

Only Zenith - the incumbent on the contract - and MindShare will be

invited to pitch. However, Tim Greatrex, deputy managing director of

Zenith, said he knew nothing of a review.

Anthony Bradbury, Land Rover’s marketing services manager, said: ’We

intend to keep it in the Ford family’.

Nick Waters, worldwide group managing partner at MindShare, added: ’Ford

is keen to see if it can achieve savings through centralising its

media.’

If the account went to MindShare, all Ford’s car interests would be

consolidated into one agency.

MindShare has just won the media contract for Volvo, another part of the

Ford group (see page 8). Land Rover has also recently hired MindShare’s

sister company J. Walter Thompson to handle its creative.

Land Rover spent pounds 20 million on advertising in the UK alone last

year.
