Laphroaig 'tastes like formaldehyde,' says Laphroaig film

Comedians feed the polarizing scotch to their disapproving families in latest #opinionswelcome spots

People who like Laphroaig really like Laphroaig. And those who don’t are welcome to appear in their commercials, apparently.

In a pair of refreshingly honest spots created by agency WhiteLabel UK, comedians Tommy Pope and Jessica Delfino share a bottle of the single-malt whisky with their families, who share their opinions of the drink. Comments range from "really reminds me of burning leaves" to "like formaldehyde" to "tastes like the imported mahogany that my favorite guitar is made out of."

The spots are the latest entries in the brand’s #opinionswelcome campaign, which embraces the fact that Laphroaig simply isn't for everyone.

"Laphroaig recognizes that its unique flavor often creates polarizing opinions of the spirit, and the brand fully embraces this divisiveness in a clever, lighthearted way in order to invite new consumers in and honor already loyal fans," a spokesperson said.
