The two companies are hoping to get more than £100 million for the business from the sale, which is to be conducted by the investment bank, Merrill Lynch.

The sale is said to be going ahead for strategic reasons. Certain city analysts have predicted the value of the business to be as much a £400 million, but others believe the current climate puts the figure at a more conservative £100 - £150 million.
