Between the Lines: Ad ban could stifle change

The saga continues. Although ministers have seen sense and have decided that the best route to responsible food advertising in the face of increased obesity among children is self-regulation (Campaign, 30 September), MPs continue to see things differently (page 3).

Self-regulation could see the industry applying creative solutions to the obesity problem among children. Government-enforced curbs will silence the food industry, giving it no incentive to get behind efforts to educate children and improve eating habits.
