Between the Lines: Championing HTW's work

In promoting Steve Harrison to worldwide creative director of Wunderman (page 2), WPP is showing that it is serious about using Harrison Troughton Wunderman's creative success as a benchmark for the network.

HTW is among the most-awarded DM agencies in the world. Not only has it won copious gongs at Cannes, it also consistently wins at domestic awards ceremonies. However, this success has not been replicated by sister offices.

The move also sees WPP securing Harrison's commitment going forward, despite the fact that he completed his earn-out at the end of last year.

Harrison is a valuable front man for the network. He is an unusual beast in DM as he is not afraid to speak out or court controversy. This makes him a great spokesman for the industry and an ideal person to take on a role that does not exist in other direct networks. However, he must fight hard not to let his new international responsibilities distract him from the high creative standards he's helped achieve in London.
