Between the Lines: Can Hazlitt refresh GCap?

There seems little doubt that the appointment of Fru Hazlitt is a coup for GCap Media (page 2).

Capital Radio needs a strong hand if it is to turn around its dismal revenue performance and, importantly, Hazlitt's wider commercial and online experience will help GCap as it grapples with digital and other non-spot revenue streams.

There's no doubting her task will be a tough one as GCap, and radio generally, is coming off the back of a difficult 2006. But it is great news for radio that Hazlitt, one of its most compelling advocates, has stayed in the business.

GCap has been through post-merger traumas but appears to have settled down to a degree, at least affording Hazlitt a fighting chance of turning around Capital and injecting a sense of passion and excitement into its national sales force.
