Between the Lines: Starcom shakes things up

Linda Smith, the chief executive of Starcom UK, has acted swiftly to put a new management structure in place at the Publicis-owned media agency (page 4).

Avril Gallagher and Stewart Easterbrook will run its client relationships while trading continues to be handled by Chris Locke. However, there could be a break from the pattern of internal promotions with the appointment of a strategic planning director.

Starcom's reputation as a planning-led ideas agency has taken something of a battering in recent times and a high-profile external appointment seems needed to restore it.
