Living to air Candace Bushnell's 'Lipstick Jungle'

LONDON - Living has bought the rights to broadcast the hit US NBC drama 'Lipstick Jungle', based on 'Sex and the City' author Candace Bushnell's best-selling book and starring Brooke Shields.

The seven-part series aims to fill the void left by 'Sex and the City' by following three high-powered friends as they try to juggle their families, sex lives, high-powered business deals and scandals while still looking glamorous.

When it launched in the US,'Lipstick Jungle' went head to head with Darren Star's rival ABC show 'Cashmere Mafia', also about Manhatten businesswomen. Star was the producer of the TV show 'Sex and the City', but fell out with Bushnell leading him to create his own pilot about four "successful female executives".

In the end it was NBC and Bushnell's 'Lipstick Jungle' that came out on top in the ratings in what was dubbed as the "Cashmere Wars". 'Lipstick Jungle' was the only show to be offered a second series, which is currently in production in New York.

Model and actress Shields, who previously starred in NBC's 'Suddenly Susan', plays movie executive Wendy Healy who struggles to convince her stay-at-home husband that he is the one wearing the trousers.

She runs between finding new schools for her children, stopping rogue former nannies selling their stories and sealing a film deal with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio.

'24' star Kim Raver plays Nico Reilly, the editor-in-chief of hot new fashion magazine Bonfire who battles to keep from being stabbed in the back by ambitious colleagues.

The third woman is designer Victory Ford, played by Beverly Hills 90210 star Lindsay Price, who is ready to claim her title as the "It" designer at New York fashion week.

She dates an arrogant but charming billionaire, who gets his secretary to ask her out for him.
