London Transport has decided to reappoint New PHD after conducting
a lengthy review of its pounds 6 million media arrangements.
The agency has been retained, probably for another three-year contract,
to handle planning and buying for the entire LT account, which includes
advertising for the Tube, buses and London Transport Museum.
Motive, MediaVest and Carat were told they had been unsuccessful last
week by LT’s head of advertising and publicity Charlie Edelman, who
oversaw the pitch.
LT is a heavy user of radio and outdoor. The account is labour intensive
because dozens of LT campaigns are run simultaneously.
LT is obliged to hold a statutory review of its ad contracts every three
to four years because it is government run.
New PHD has held the account for three years. Agency media director
Simon Evans has overall responsibility for the contract.
LT has taken several months to reach a decision over its advertising
suppliers. Last month it picked Partners BDDH to handle the pounds 8
million creative account.
