Lowe Lintas wins Virgin Mobile in the US

Lowe Lintas has won the $90m Virgin Mobile account in the US after a four-month pitch.

Lowe Lintas has won the $90m Virgin Mobile account in the US after a four-month pitch.

The win comes just after Lowes lost the $100m Sun Microsystems account, which went to J Walter Thompson and Tonic 360 after a review last year.

The other agencies pitching for the Virgin business are not known. Lowe is taking on creative, planning, buying and production for the mobile phone account.

Virgin Mobile opened its US headquarters in San Francisco last year, and will launch its service later in 2001.

Chairman and chief executive officer of Lowe Lintas US Gary Goldsmith said: "This is a great win and adds further fuel to our confidence that our West Coast agency that will be a leading force in that market."
