Lowe Howard-Spink has swept the board at the 37th International
Advertising Festival of Ireland, held last weekend in Kinsale.
The agency scooped the Grand Prix Television for Scalextric with
’sorry’, an ad that formed part of the ’it’s a boy thing’ campaign, and
features a white couple giving birth to a black baby.
The Scalextric ad also won the Great Britain National Award, while
others in the series picked up a gold and bronze and a diploma in the
leisure category, and golds in the TV series and low budget
The agency also won a bronze award in the alcoholic drink category for
Heineken ’rubbish’ and a gold award in the publications category for the
’litany’ ad for The Independent.
The Grand Prix for cinema went to Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO for Guinness
’surfer’, which also got a silver in the alcoholic drink category.
Guinness ’swimblack’ won gold in the category. The Worldwinner
Television award went to Saatchi & Saatchi Wellington for a Toyota
Paul Weiland Films won the Palme d’Or and the Worldwinner Radio award
went to Saatchis in the UK for its ’leather’ ad for Lexus. Saatchis also
won awards for the NSPCC, Castlemaine XXXX and the Army.
Other UK award-winners were Euro Wnek Gosper RSCG, which won a gold for
Peugeot, and TBWA GGT Simons Palmer, which won the best writing and a
silver TV award for Sony PlayStation ’double life’.
