Lufthansa, the German airline, gently ribs English football fans in its new TV ad.
Kolle Rebbe created the spot, in which two English football fans are told their flight is cancelled and must travel on Lufthansa, leading them to imagine a hellish journey filled with sauerkraut, oompah bands and TV replays of Germany’s greatest sporting victories. The reality turns out to be much more pleasant, for them, although there is still one niggle – a little German boy who lords his country’s superior World Cup record over them. Lufthansa is sponsoring the German Football Association ahead of the European Championships later this year. The ad began running at the start of May on German TV and will continue until June.
