Lufthansa hires for web update

Lufthansa has appointed Brann Interactive to manage the online strategy and implementation of the airline’s UK web site in an attempt to raise the airline’s presence on the internet.

Lufthansa has appointed Brann Interactive to manage the online

strategy and implementation of the airline’s UK web site in an attempt

to raise the airline’s presence on the internet.

The current UK web site, www.lufthansa.co.uk, was originally designed by

Webmedia, which won the account back in 1995 before going into

liquidation at the end of last year.

The site is expected to undergo a revamp, and will be heavily promoted

online once Brann Interactive reviews the success of the current

campaign.

The UK site will be linked to Lufthansa’s global web site, at

www.lufthansa.com, which includes features such as timetables, flight

booking and frequent-flyer statements.

Mark Davies, marketing manager for Lufthansa UK and Ireland, said: ’I am

looking forward to the relationship with Brann Interactive, which will

help us to strike a balance between digital innovation and marketing

rationale.’

Mark Davies, Brann Interactive’s account planner on the Lufthansa

business, previously worked at Webmedia.

Davies said that he would carry out an initial site audit to establish

what opportunities exist for the airline on the internet.

The internet has become an important tool for airline companies which

see it as another sales and marketing channel.

Most major airlines sell tickets over the net, including British

Airways, Virgin Atlantic, and British Midland. EasyJet, the discount

airline, is aiming to take 30% of its bookings over the net by next

year.

Last week Guinness Worldwide appointed Brann Interactive to handle its

global online marketing activity.
