M&C Saatchi moves into Spanish market

M&C Saatchi is launching an office in Spain following the acquisition of Zapping Publicidad for an undisclosed amount.

The burgeoning London-based network acquired a 25 per cent share of the Spanish marketing services business and its group of companies.

The deal sees M&C making a commitment to acquire a further 50 per cent of the agency over the next three years. In 2006, Zapping Publicidad made pre-tax profits of £0.9 million.

Moray MacLennan, the chairman of Europe for M&C Saatchi, said: "In completing this deal, M&C Saatchi has now formalised a strong regional offering with a marked presence across France, Germany, the UK and Spain.

"Zapping's group structure, and its reputation for delivering award-winning creative, will help the M&C Saatchi network to drive growth throughout the region."

Urs Frick, the president of Zapping, said: "Our agency is very proud to be joining the M&C Saatchi network, which is seen as a leader in the global advertising industry."
