M&S signs Hollywood director Jordon Scott for latest ad

Marks & Spencer is launching a TV campaign for its autumn/winter womenswear range, directed by Ridley Scott's daughter, Jordon Scott.

The ad campaign, created by Rainey Kelly Campbell Rolfe/Y&R, will include two spots, "rendezvous" and "the date".

"Rendezvous" launches tonight at 8.30pm on ITV1 during 'Red or Black?'. It follows middle aged actress Charlotte Weston as she tries on a number of M&S outfits.

"The date" breaks on Friday (9 September). This time the camera follows model Claire Durkin preparing for a first date and trying a number of confidence inspiring outfits. She opts for an Autograph wrap dress, which visibly impresses her date.

Media buying was handled by Walker Media. The executive creative director was Mark Roalfe with Andy Forrest and Nicola Hawes in the creative team. The ads were directed by Scott, who was has also worked on the feature films 'Cracks' and 'All the Invisible Children'.

Steve Sharp, executive director at M&S, said: "These ads capture the build-up, excitement and emotion at a time when clothes matter more than ever. They tap into the universal truth that women don't just wear clothes to cover up or follow a trend.

"They wear them to feel good, to feel more confident and glamorous. To bring this to life, we decided to use lesser known faces, so our customers will relate to the scenarios and feel empathy with the characters."

M&S has also signed Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds and Burberry model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to appear in its Autograph campaign.
