Mail on Sunday sales creates new strategy unit

LONDON - The Mail on Sunday is overhauling its advertising sales department to place more emphasis on planning.

Changes will include the creation of a client-facing strategic planning unit to sit alongside the trading team.  The newspaper is looking externally for someone to head the unit and there are a number of changes to the senior management team.

Steve Atkinson, the head of newspapers, has been promoted to deputy advertisement director, reporting to the advertisement director, Simon Davies. His old post is taken by Jon O'Donnell, who is promoted from regional sales manager.

Chris Willis, who was made the head of magazines two years ago, is leaving. He will be replaced by Ella Dolphin, the newspapers brand manager. Vanessa Jeffrey, the client sales manager, is promoted to head of classified.
