Regional marketing director
Last year Akhtar was promoted to the new role of regional marketing director for the Subway brand across Europe, having served as head of marketing for the UK and Ireland since March 2011. In her new position, she has been briefed to provide consistency in the brand’s tone of voice across Europe’s diverse regions. In addition, she is focused on the Subcard, which is to be expanded across the territory in a drive to boost customer loyalty. With more than 45,000 stores worldwide and over 1800 in UK and Ireland, Subway is the world’s biggest fast-food restaurant chain. With this in mind, over the past 12 months it has placed a greater focus on global marketing platforms. As a result, the brand entered a global partnership with Liverpool Football Club in April.
