According to the tabloid press, the national union of Rail,
Maritime and Transport workers has sold off one of its country estates
to ease a small cash-flow crisis.
The pounds 850,000 it earned will no doubt be a great comfort, but the
news is worrying for Arc Advertising, whose building in Euston is
another of the RMT’s estates.
Apparently, the agency has not yet heard anything untoward - and it
would expect to be told straightaway because, apparently, the union is a
very good landlord.
Except, that is, for rail strike days when agency staff who have
struggled into work have to endure the sight of RMT leader Jimmy Knapp
cruising into Arc’s car park in his chauffeur-driven Scorpio.
