MARKETING MIX: True Blue Davie is no Euro-sceptic

Pepsi, in case you’ve been in the nether regions of outer space since Christmas, has gone blue.

Pepsi, in case you’ve been in the nether regions of outer space since

Christmas, has gone blue.

This bold move in a red-dominated market proved so successful that the

man in command of ‘Project Blue’, Pepsi UK-marketing manager Tim Davie,

is to guide the company’s marketing strategy across Europe - an

appropriate move for a man who is blazing more than one blue trail.

Davie, it emerges, is deputy chairman of the Hammersmith and Fulham

Conservative Party - a role which he chose to play down in the hype

surrounding ‘Project Blue’.

Davie’s evening job does add a certain piquancy to Abbott Mead Vickers

BBDO’s ‘rosette’ poster.

Perhaps, with such a gift for turning Europe into a blue zone, he should

be found a marketing job in Conservative Party Central Office with the

maximum of speed.
