The role of marketing has never been so integral to business success, creating brands that are ready for tomorrow and a driving force for change.
For this reason, Marketing is launching a set of awards that we believe is unlike any other in our industry. Each of the 12 categories represents an important story in marketing today - from Cultural Shift to the Power of Partnership - celebrating strong brands and visionary marketers.
World class innovation
Whether looking at strategy, creative or execution, new thinking lies at the centre of the best brands today.
It’s important we celebrate the very best creative brilliance that makes the UK marketing industry a leading player on the world stage
"Our inaugural New Thinking Awards are about showcasing world-class innovation across all aspects of the marketing agenda," said Marketing editor Rachel Barnes. "This is not about technology, although that plays a core role; it is about the inspiring work that drives the best brands forward to a successful future.
"It’s not always about big-bang transformational activity. New thinking is evolutionary; it’s a shift in our approach to the challenges and opportunities we face each day."
Co-chairing the judging panel, we are delighted to announce that Roisin Donnelly, Procter & Gamble’s brand director for Northern Europe, and Jonathan Mildenhall, CMO of Airbnb, will take the lead.
Donnelly said: "It’s important we celebrate the very best creative brilliance that makes the UK marketing industry a leading player on the world stage."
Industry benchmark on strategy, ideas, execution and impact
Judging will give me a front-row seat in the classroom of Great British excellence in marketing
Mildenhall added: "I love the fact that it is designed on strategic themes relevant to all marketers and, as such, I hope that these awards will become an industry benchmark on strategy, ideas, execution and impact. Judging will give me a front-row seat in the classroom of Great British excellence in marketing."
Our growing list of client-side judges so far also includes: David Pemsel, deputy chief executive of Guardian News & Media; Chris Popple, managing director for RBS' digital division; and Gav Thompson, incoming CMO for Paddy Power.
The winners of the 12 categories will represent the brands, and agencies, that truly understand the complex marketing landscape and embrace the constant evolution demanded of them in an age of rapid change.
We invite the industry to come together to champion, share and learn from the most inspirational marketing, and to celebrate how best-in-class new thinking fosters change and progress.
