Months of waiting are almost over for the poster specialists

pitching for Mars’ outdoor business, with Concord tipped to pip

Posterscope.

Mars is keeping its cards close to its chest and European media

controller Angus McIntosh insisted ’a decision has not yet been made’ on

the pounds 10 million-plus account. A final meeting is set to take place

this week.

But senior industry sources said they expected Concord to pick up the

business. ’It’s been going on a long time,’ said one. ’Mars would have

given Posterscope the nod before now if it had won, and although the

team at Concord are denying they know anything, their confidence has

definitely grown.’

The battle started in January, when Mars centralised the pounds 85

million media planning and buying for its confectionery and Pedigree

Masterfoods brands into Zenith.

Once Portland, which also pitched for the business, was eliminated,

there was speculation that Posterscope would land the account. But

pundits now believe the ’wind is in Concord’s sails’.
