One of Stead’s initiatives, the launch of a low-carbon prepay tariff, landed a front-page slot in The Sun this year because the innovation enables customers with a pre-payment meter to fix their energy prices for the first time. His two-year-old ‘Feel better energy’ campaign is still going strong and, according to Stead, the strategy is paying off. Despite the continued bad press the energy sector attracts, Stead is on a mission to reinvent EDF as a consumer champion, scrapping termination fees, keeping prices down and pushing for greater transparency.
