McCann lands global account

McCann Worldgroup has been appointed to handle the global account for after a competitive pitch.

The account strengthens McCann's existing relationship with the Swedish retail giant after the agency won the global account for the Ikea catalogue in August. McCann is the first global agency of record for Ikea.

McCann will be responsible for redesigning the site and user experience, working closely with Ikea's in-house digital team in Helsingborg and Älmhult, Sweden.

In the UK Ikea works with Mother London. The relationship is unaffected by the appointment.

Lena Simonsson Berge, head of global communications at Ikea, said: "McCann understands our business and our culture. This fact, combined with their digital and storytelling capabilities, makes them the perfect choice for this critical assignment."
