McCann-Erickson has picked up its first business for Microsoft in

Europe with a dollars 50 million task to run a business solutions

campaign.

The agency scooped the entire dollars 230 million account in the US from

Wieden & Kennedy in June. This included the flagship brand advertising

account, the task of launching Windows 2000 and focus on TV business

advertising under the umbrella of ’business solutions’.

The agency’s London office has been assigned the task of implementing

and co-ordinating the campaign across Europe to stress how products can

be used by the business community.

However, the appointment does not affect any of Microsoft’s local

agencies, which include Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper in the UK.

Richard Lindh, Microsoft’s marketing director based at its Paris

headquarters, said: ’This will be our first pan-European business

branding campaign showing how new technology can have a positive impact

on workers.’

Jim Heekin, the regional director, Europe, Middle East and Africa of

McCann-Erickson, said: ’We take great pride in becoming a European

partner with Microsoft. This is a unique opportunity to work with one of

the world’s most exciting companies.’
