MCHI appointed to handle AOL's £2m media planning and buying

AOL, the online portal, has appointed MCHI to handle its £2 million media planning and buying business.

The move sees media for AOL consolidated into MCHI alongside planning and buying for The Carphone Warehouse, which owns the AOL UK brand, and its TalkTalk broadband service. Vizeum previously held the AOL media business, which is focused on direct and digital activity to attract visitors to the AOL portal.

The Carphone Warehouse bought AOL UK in October 2006 for £370 million and migrated its broadband business into TalkTalk, leaving AOL to operate as a portal offering news and entertainment.

MCHI launched in January as a joint venture between CHI & Partners and the WPP media unit Group M.
